How to White-Label Your Reseller Hosting Business
White-labeling is what lets your clients experience “your” hosting company, even though the underlying infrastructure is a reseller account on someone else’s servers. Here’s what to configure.
Branded nameservers
Instead of clients pointing their domains at your upstream provider’s nameservers, set up your own branded ones (e.g. ns1.yourbrand.com, ns2.yourbrand.com) that resolve to the same IP addresses. This is usually configured as “private nameservers” registered against your own domain — see our dedicated guide on setting up private nameservers — so clients only ever see your brand in their domain settings.
cPanel/WHM branding
If your reseller plan includes branding features, set your logo, company name, and colour scheme so the cPanel interface your clients log into shows your identity, not a generic or upstream-branded interface. This is typically under a Branding section in WHM, though availability depends on your specific plan/provider.
Support contact details
Update the contact email and any support links shown to clients (in account creation emails, suspension pages, and cPanel’s own contact info fields) to point at your own support channel, not your upstream provider’s — your clients should never need to know who you’re reselling from.
Your own billing and client area
White-labeling the server-level interface is only half of it — most reseller businesses also run their own separate billing/client portal (WHMCS or similar) entirely under their own domain, so the entire client journey (signup, invoices, support tickets, and finally the hosting control panel) feels like one consistent brand.
Why this matters
Clients who see your upstream provider’s name anywhere in the experience will (reasonably) start emailing that provider directly when something breaks, which the provider isn’t set up to handle for your clients. Thorough white-labeling keeps the support relationship exactly where it belongs: with you.
