Fewer network hops
Every request to a website travels through a chain of routers between the visitor’s ISP and the server’s network. When both sides are peered at BDIX, that chain is short — often just the visitor’s ISP, the exchange, and the hosting network. Traffic routed internationally instead typically passes through several additional hops across submarine cable landing stations and transit providers, and each hop adds a small amount of latency.
