WooCommerce turns a normal WordPress site into a full online store. This walks through getting it installed and configured correctly on cPanel hosting.
1. Install WordPress
Use cPanel’s Softaculous or WordPress Manager app installer to set up WordPress in a couple of minutes, or install it manually if you prefer full control over the database name and table prefix.
2. Install the WooCommerce plugin
In wp-admin, go to Plugins > Add New, search “WooCommerce”, and install + activate it. The setup wizard will launch automatically and walk you through store location, currency, and industry.
3. Configure the essentials
- Payments — connect at least one gateway (card payments, bKash/Nagad for Bangladeshi stores, or PayPal/Stripe for international sales).
- Shipping — set up zones and rates under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping, even if it’s a single flat rate to start.
- Tax — enable tax calculation if applicable to your business and region.
- Permalinks — set to “Post name” under Settings > Permalinks so product URLs stay clean.
4. Server-side tuning
WooCommerce is more resource-hungry than a static site. In cPanel, confirm PHP memory_limit is at least 256M (MultiPHP INI Editor) and enable object caching (Redis, if your plan includes it) to keep product-catalog queries fast as your inventory grows.
5. Before you launch
